Still Stuck in Terraria

I’ve still been playing a lot of Terraria, and still enjoying it quite a lot! I’ve gotten a lot further since my last post, including finding a hook (finally!), destroying shadow orbs, mining out the resulting meteor, crafting a phase blade (red), getting a musket and the arms dealer to move in, and defending against a Goblin invasion.

That dang hook took me forever to get. I’ve been killing skeletons and piranhas since I started playing, and it took until nearly 30 hours in before I got one to drop.

Trying out Terraria

Well, it finally occurred that I could pull myself away from Minecraft long enough after the piston update to actually give Terraria a try. I’ve only played for a few hours (that’s saying something already I suppose) in single-player mode, and my conclusion so far is that it’s quite cool. I’m also really looking forward to playing a bit co-op when I have time on the weekend.

My base of operations.

I’ve got some pretty good gear already, and thanks to a few “Let’s Play”s I’m not entirely lost as for what to do. I only started up a small world as everything I’ve seen shows Terraria to be plenty expansive, even on small maps. And since I get to carry over my character between maps I don’t have to worry about losing my progress!

I’ve already found glowing mushrooms and an underground jungle. The jungle resulted in 3 deaths in fairly quick succession as I tried to recover my money from each previous death. I’ve also had great luck finding chests, as you can see in the screenshot. Not a single chest had to be crafted, all were found while exploring caves.

If anyone has any extra tips for Terraria I’d be glad to hear them, or if anyone wanted to try some online play with me I’m game! I will continue to post about my Terraria adventures here, since it’s both very fun and in the same genre as Minecraft.

And hey, Happy Crafting!
