Rain in the Mineshaft

Just had to post that shot as a comparison against the one my friends from Encrazed Crafts posted from when they visited my server. It’s a good shot with any texture pack, but I still don’t like the default cobble. That visit was about 2 days ago, and I’ve been busy since! The Transcontinental Achievement railroad has been revamped from a hacked-together surface railroad into a full on monorail-style raised train. Complete with color coded stations along the route.

Construction of the elevated platform completed.

The whole system only took about 75 stacks of cobble to construct, platform, supports, and stations included. I didn’t calculate torches, but it’s gotta be somewhere from 4 to 6 stacks.

Strange weather we're having...

Oh and when I was finishing up the platform I got this screenshot of a storm, where it’s raining next to me, but not where I’m standing. It was on the border of a temperate and desert biome. So while it sill gets dark in the desert during a storm, there isn’t any precipitation, cool.

Tearing up the old track.

After the route was completed, I tore up the old surface line. I made sure to recover all the boosters along with the buried redstone torch powering them. The raised platform I designed is able to neatly hide a torch within the supports in order to power boosters on the line, which are placed every 16 blocks to keep the line speedy.

I'm getting soaked!

And a final shot, riding the rails! And holy cow am I soaked! Well not really, but the weather effects are still impressive, to the point that when I’d run out the door I’d find myself wanting to hunch against the rain. And now that the world map is updated, you can take a look at the more-or-less finished Transcontinental Achievement Monorail. (Currently not long enough to get the minecart achievement, but soon.)
